Mark Smith
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST, COLLABORATIVE DIVORCE COACH & PARENTING COORDINATOR
Mark is an experienced Marriage and Family Therapist, Collaborative Divorce Coach and Parenting Coordinator and has been in practice since 1988. Mark believes that people generally want to be happy and do well in life. Sometimes, however, people struggle to function at their best. This goes for individuals, couples, as well as families. He works from a non-judgmental approach, to help open up space for people to understand themselves better and make changes toward optimal functioning in life and relationships.
When working as a Divorce Coach, Mark focuses on the practical aspects of co-parenting (i.e. parenting plans, etc) but also on the emotional process of managing the transition, of uncoupling emotionally, and the impasses that go along with that. This means a healthy, conflict-free environment for children after separation and divorce. The long term goal is one of transitioning from one family to two families as smoothly as possible, and getting on with life.
Working from a family systems or family of origin approach, he is interested in the emotional process, the emotional dance of individuals, couples and families that contributes to the development of a variety of symptoms, such as relationship problems, parenting challenges, stuck divorces, depression, anxiety.
