Caroline is a registered clinical counsellor who enjoys working with people of all ages. Caroline believes that counselling is a collaborative process in which the client and the therapist work together to discover new ways of understanding and addressing the challenges that come our way. Caroline is a compassionate and empathetic person who is able to balance practical assistance with a keen sense of humour.
Caroline works with individuals, couples, youth and families. She believes in dealing with the now in order to assist people in getting where they want to be. Her non-judgmental and inclusive approach works with a variety of issues all the way from anxiety and depression, to major life and identity transitions. She has experienced a number of significant changes in her own life, which inform her passion for her work, and her commitment to supporting change and affirming diversity.
An area of specialty for Caroline is Diversity and Identity. Caroline came out a few years ago, and now identifies as a cisgender lesbian. This identity shift fostered a desire to support mental health and well-being within the LGBTQ community, and with people of all ages. Caroline has worked with LGBTQ clients facing life changes, and those coping with major life stressors. She has also supported clients as they transitioned, and those exploring identity issues related to gender and sexual orientation. She is passionate about supporting families as they adjust to a family member experiencing identity shifts and life changes. She also works with people in LGBTQ relationships and those in non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships.
Caroline is a divorced parent of four school-aged children and brings a deep understanding of attachment to her parenting, her relationships and her counselling practice. She is committed to supporting families, through parent education, and by helping parents to maintain their connection with their children during any transitions, and in particular during a separation and divorce. As part of the Alyson Jones & Associates Divorce and Separation team she provides assistance to families as they adapt and adjust to these life changes.
Other areas of interest for Caroline are health and spirituality. Caroline was diagnosed with a chronic illness at the age of 18. She understands the additional challenges managing health conditions can add to our lives and she works with clients to find ways to manage their conditions in the wider context of their lives. Having been brought up in a religious household, Caroline has travelled her own spiritual path and enjoys working with those who are examining their relationship to belief and spirituality.
