Teacher, coach, mentor, entrepreneur, psychotherapist, and author, Dr. Lake wears many hats. However, the common thread that runs through all his work is people. “I love people. I have a need to understand, at a deep level, the other person’s experience and then support them to get what they want. Professionally and personally, my passions are interpersonal dynamics, emotional intelligence, and conflict management for couples and families.”
Becoming unstuck and moving forward is at the heart of much of Steven’s therapeutic work. Having been through many relationships and one divorce, Steven became an avid student of what makes relationships work and what hinders successful outcomes. Finally, hitting upon the formula for success, he has been happily married for 18 years and has been assisting couple and families at all ages and stages of their relationships.
In his work with couples, Steven realized that most people have not been taught effective relationship skills, and this led him to write, talk2ME: How to communicate with women, tune up your relationship, tone down the fights, dodge divorce, and have sex more than once a year.
“Life is complex, unpredictable and often cruel. The majority of my work revolves around trauma and crisis situations.” Steven has worked with victims of car accidents, bank robberies, rape, torture, war and divorce. Steven is a seasoned therapist who works with a wide variety of issues, and is pleased to bring his experience and steady approach to the Family Forward Program as well.
Steven is an experienced professional with compassion and insight. He has the innate ability to quickly create a safe and trusting atmosphere in which you, your partner or your family can begin the healing process.
